Bio

Dr. Alam is currently serving as a Full Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Discipline at the Khulna University, Bangladesh. Previously he has served as the Director of ICT CELL and the Assistant Provost of Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Hall in the same university. Dr. Alam is a computer system scientist who loves to develop and experiment with existing or new systems to find opportunities to improve them.


Dr. Alam has 16 years of professional research and software engineering expertise. He was awarded Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa in 2017 for his contributions in the field of Internet-of-Things and Cyber-Physical Systems. He was the key contributor to devise some new computing systems, Social Internet-of-Vehicles, Digital Twin based CPS, Affective Jacket, Affective SMS, and Haptic E-Book. He was a recipient of the prestigious NSERC Canada Graduate and Ontario Graduate Scholarships while his graduate study at the University of Ottawa. He has contributed around 40 peer-reviewed international conferences and high impact journals with renowned publishers such as IEEE, ACM, and Springer. A few of his research works received best paper awards in the conferences such as ICCIT, and the Internet-of-Vehicles.


Dr. Alam has successfully guided over 30 B.Sc. and M.Sc. students to complete research and software development projects as a coordinator of DGTED Lab. DGTED Lab regularly publishes their technological achievements in international conferences, journals as well as in public software repositories. As a technology activist, he encourages students to publish their projects for public use in communities such as GITHUB. A few of his students have received awards at national level project competitions.

Dr. Alam is also actively involved in the community as Reviewers and TPC members of conferences and journals,  Principal Investigator of Khulna University Research Cell, Executive Member of Khulna University Teacher Association-2019, Joint Secretary of Khulna University Alumni Association-2020, Khulna University Undergraduate Admission Committee, Advisor to Student Club (CLUSTER) of Computer Science and Engineering Discipline of Khulna University, IT infrastructure development planner of Khulna University, etc. He also advises student technology transfer initiatives and a few startups.
