[16 August 2011 (Tuesday)]: With the support of Department of Electrical Engineering/Computer Science of Bremen University, Germany, Computer Science and Engineering Discipline of Khulna University organized a day long Seminar on Demand and Requirements of Engineers for IT Job Market. In the inaugural session of the seminar, honorable Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University, Prof. Dr. Md. Saifuddin Shah attended as chief guest, while honorable Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Fayek Uzzaman attended as special guest. In the technical session, Prof. Dr. Engg. Bibhuti Roy of Bremen University, Germany presented keynote speech on the topic with respect to the current international market specially European market focusing on Germany and UK. Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman of Khulna University covered the national aspect of the topic, while Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Assistant Professor of King Saud University, Saudi Arabia delivered speech highlighting the research aspect of the topic. The speakers clearly specified various scopes of IT Engineers in local and international markets and illustrated the requirements for getting the desired position/job. After the keynote speeches, teachers and students of Khulna University, local IT entrepreneurs and professionals took part in panel discussion. In a very live and interactive discussion, the participants pointed out various demands and requirements of the Engineers in Khulna University. Commenting on the topic, honorable Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University, Prof. Dr. Md. Saifuddin Shah emphasized on composing market-process orientated curriculum keeping a suitable balance with academic excellence. He mentioned IT as the cutting-edge technology of this current century. Prof. Md. Moazzem Hossain of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Discipline, Khulna University expressed his concern in extending IT depended interdisciplinary collaboration like bioinformatics etc. Various participants including Dr. Md. Anisur Rahman (Associate Professor, CSE Discipline), Mr. S. M. Masud Karim (Associate Professor, CSE Discipline), Mr. Anupam Kumar Bairagi (Lecturer, CSE Discipline), Mr. Sk. Adbul Kayum (Freedom Fighter and President, Digital Khulna Forum), Mr. Hasan (CEO, Pranon Ltd) and a good number of students of CSE Discipline suggested on the development of adequate IT infrastructure, providing continuous internet connection to the laboratories, arranging frequent training programs, improving university-company collaboration, creating and maintaining sound environment for teaching and research.
